Zilla Fatu Reportedly Visits WWE Performance Center As Interest Grows In Umaga’s Son And A Potential Bloodline Addition

The next chapter of The Bloodline may already be quietly taking shape behind the scenes.

Zilla Fatu, the 26-year-old son of the late WWE star Umaga, was at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, on Monday. PWInsider Elite first reported the news, adding that there has been recent talk of WWE having interest in bringing him into the company. His appearance at the Performance Center does not confirm that he has signed a contract, completed a tryout or reached an agreement with WWE. However, it is easily the strongest indication yet that the long-running speculation surrounding his future may be moving beyond fantasy booking.

For years, Zilla has felt like one of the most obvious eventual WWE signings in independent wrestling. He is a legitimate member of the Anoa’i family, carries one of the most recognizable last names in the business and has steadily built his own following without appearing on weekly national television. The family connection creates the initial curiosity, but it is not the only reason fans continue to watch him closely.

Who Is Zilla Fatu?

Born Isayah Fatu, Zilla is the son of Edward Fatu, better known to wrestling fans as Umaga. His father became one of WWE’s most memorable monsters during the mid-to-late 2000s, combining the physical presence of a heavyweight with surprising speed, explosiveness and the devastating Samoan Spike. Umaga died in 2009, but his influence remains central to Zilla’s identity and presentation.

Zilla’s journey into professional wrestling was not a straightforward one. He has openly discussed serving six years in prison after being charged with aggravated robbery as a teenager before his release in 2022. Wrestling became more than a career option after he returned home. It became a way to rebuild his life, create structure and reconnect with the legacy of a father he lost at a young age. He has said that entering the business helped him understand Umaga on a deeper level through the people who knew and worked with him.

That personal history matters because it gives Zilla something that cannot be manufactured inside a Performance Center. He is not simply another second-generation prospect trading on a famous name. His connection to Umaga is emotional, visible and naturally woven into everything he does, from his use of the Samoan Spike to the intensity he brings into the ring.

How Zilla Fatu Entered The Wrestling Business

Zilla began training under WWE Hall of Famer Booker T at Reality of Wrestling in Houston, Texas. He made his official in-ring debut at ROW Summer of Champions IX on July 15, 2023, defeating Jonny Lyons in a match that immediately put a spotlight on him. He had only been training for a short period, but the reaction made it clear that fans already viewed him as more than an ordinary rookie.

His first run with Reality of Wrestling was not without complications. Booker T announced in September 2023 that Zilla was no longer part of the promotion because of what he described as irreconcilable differences. Zilla later explained that the two had different visions for his career. The split did not last forever. They eventually reconciled, and Zilla returned to ROW, where the relationship developed into one of the most important pieces of his growth as a performer.

That early turbulence is part of the reason his career has remained interesting. Zilla has undeniable upside, but he has also been learning in public. He is still a relatively inexperienced wrestler, and there have been moments when the attention surrounding his family name has moved faster than his development. Even Zilla acknowledged that reality during an August 2025 interview when he said he was still green, had more growing to do and had not yet completed a WWE tryout.

Zilla Fatu’s Wrestling Career And Championship Accomplishments

Despite debuting less than three years ago, Zilla has already worked across several of the most recognizable independent promotions in the United States.

His Reality of Wrestling run established the foundation. He defeated Edge Stone at Summer of Champions X in August 2024 to win the ROW Heavyweight Championship for the first time. After losing the title later that year, he regained it in March 2025 by defeating Gaspar Hernandez, becoming a two-time ROW Heavyweight Champion.

House of Glory became another major home for him. Zilla defeated Carlos Ramirez in July 2024 to capture the HOG Crown Jewel Championship. He later lost the title to Bully Ray in a tables match in August 2025 before regaining it the following month. His House of Glory run has also placed him across the ring from established names such as Matt Riddle, Donovan Dijak, Bully Ray and MJF. In February 2026, Zilla challenged MJF for the AEW World Championship at House of Glory’s No Turning Back event, giving him one of the highest-profile matches of his young career.

Zilla also became a regular presence in GCW, where he gained valuable experience working a more unpredictable and demanding independent style. His time with the company ended after GCW announced in September 2024 that he would not appear at its events for the foreseeable future following an impasse between both sides. Tensions resurfaced publicly in early 2026 after Zilla criticized GCW and owner Brett Lauderdale responded on social media.

His résumé continued expanding beyond those promotions. He won the 4th Rope Heavyweight Championship and has remained closely associated with the Westside Gunn-led promotion. He also won the Gremlin House Wrestling World Tag Team Championship alongside BG Wayne and captured the NCG Noble Crown Championship. In July 2025, he made his TNA Wrestling debut during the Slammiversary pre-show, teaming with Real1 and Josh Bishop in a victory over Jake Something, Steve Maclin and Mance Warner.

His championship résumé currently includes two ROW Heavyweight Championship reigns, two HOG Crown Jewel Championship reigns, one 4th Rope Heavyweight Championship reign, one NCG Noble Crown Championship reign and one GHW World Tag Team Championship reign alongside BG Wayne.

Why Zilla Fatu Has Become So Popular

Zilla’s popularity comes from a combination of legacy, presence and potential.

He looks like someone who belongs on a major wrestling television show. He carries himself with confidence, has an authentic connection with crowds and possesses the kind of natural intensity that fits the Fatu family name. Booker T has publicly praised his presence and instincts, describing him as someone with the tools to become a global star. Zilla has also developed a broader profile in Houston, including promotional work connected to the Houston Texans.

At the same time, the fascination surrounding him is partially based on what he could become rather than what he already is. Zilla is not a finished product. His matches can still reveal his relative lack of experience, and a jump directly onto WWE’s main roster would place him under a microscope immediately. The appeal is that the foundation is already there: the look, the story, the family lineage, the finishing move and a crowd that wants to see him succeed.

The WWE rumors have followed him almost from the moment he debuted. Reality of Wrestling later joined WWE’s ID developmental program, giving his continued work under Booker T an even more direct connection to WWE’s broader talent-development system. Fans chanted Zilla’s name during Ricky Saints’ promo on the January 6 edition of NXT after Saints attacked him during a Reality of Wrestling appearance, creating an obvious opening for a future NXT storyline.

The speculation intensified again in March when Paul Heyman publicly said WWE would be making a mistake if it failed to sign Zilla at the first available opportunity. Two months later, Zilla has now appeared at the Performance Center while reported interest from WWE continues to grow.

What Would Zilla Fatu Mean For The Bloodline?

Zilla joining WWE would immediately create options, but WWE should not rush the most obvious one.

The easiest direction would be placing him directly into The Bloodline story alongside Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso and Jacob Fatu. Roman is currently the World Heavyweight Champion after defeating Jacob in Tribal Combat at WWE Clash in Italy. Jacob acknowledged Roman as Tribal Chief on the following episode of RAW, but WWE has already teased that the tension is not completely gone. On Monday’s show, Jacob refused to do The Usos’ dirty work against Seth Rollins, creating another small crack in the family’s uneasy reunion.

Zilla could fit naturally into that conflict. He could side with Jacob as a younger, more volatile extension of the Fatu branch of the family. He could join Roman and The Usos before eventually questioning the hierarchy. He could even debut as the unpredictable variable who refuses to immediately acknowledge anyone. Any of those directions would feel more meaningful than introducing him as another interchangeable enforcer.

The smarter move, however, may be starting him in NXT.

Jacob Fatu had more than a decade of in-ring experience before WWE placed him directly on the main roster. Zilla does not have that same level of seasoning yet. A run in NXT would allow him to improve his pacing, promos and week-to-week television consistency while creating anticipation for the moment he eventually crosses paths with the rest of his family. The existing Ricky Saints connection gives WWE an easy entry point without forcing him into the deepest end of the pool immediately.

The important part is that WWE does not need to manufacture interest. It already exists.

Zilla Fatu is not ready-made simply because he is Umaga’s son. He still has work to do. But the potential is obvious, the audience is already invested and the timing of his Performance Center visit is impossible to ignore. Whether WWE views him as an NXT prospect, a future Bloodline member or both, it increasingly feels like a matter of when—not if—Zilla Fatu eventually steps onto WWE television.
