Could the most decorated woman in WWE NXT history be destined for the main roster sooner than later?
Roxanne Perez signed with WWE back in March of 2022 and would make her NXT debut on the April 19th episode defeating Jayce Jayne. She would then go on to compete in the inaugural NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament defeating Tiffany Stratton(replacing an injured Nikita Lyons) in the finals. With her win she earned herself a championship opportunity whenever she decided.
She alongside Cora Jade would defeat Toxic Attraction(Gigi Dolin and Jayce Jayne) at The Great American Bash to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship. The following week Perez would cash in her breakout contract against then women’s champion Mandy Rose. She would be unsuccessful in this attempt as Jade would turn on her costing her the match and effectively ending their reign as tag teams champions with the titles being vacated.
Perez would become the inaugural Women’s Iron Survivor winning the first ever Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge. Three days later on NXT she would cash in her opportunity defeating Mandy Rose and end her historic reign to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
Perez would also compete both the 2023 and the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble Matches as well as a match on SmackDown.
It is now being reported by Corey Brennan of Fightful Select that Perez has impressed major officials in each of her main roster appearances and her call up is described as “only a matter of time.”
Many people within NXT have been pushing for Perez, who recently turned heel to remain in the brand for a little bit longer. Currently she is scheduled to face Lyra Valkriya for the NXT Women’s Championship this Saturday afternoon at NXT Stand and Deliver.
She has blown officials away with her new heel character that some are pushing for her to win the title. Many fans have even assumed that she has taken the role of injured NXT superstar Cora Jade but that isn’t the case. NXT sources have confirmed that there was tentative plans to reunite the two prior to Jade’s ACL injury and surgery back in January.
