New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre are taking their long-running partnership into uncharted territory as tickets are officially on sale for Lucha Kingdom, a first-of-its-kind promotion-versus-promotion supercard scheduled for Monday, November 16, 2026, at Arena México.
Lucha Kingdom will begin at 5 p.m. local time inside the legendary venue known throughout professional wrestling as the cathedral of lucha libre. Rather than presenting another traditional crossover showcase, NJPW and CMLL are advertising the event around wrestlers from both companies going head to head for promotional supremacy.
Fans can purchase tickets for NJPW and CMLL Lucha Kingdom through Ticketmaster Mexico.
The first Lucha Kingdom represents a significant evolution of the relationship between NJPW and CMLL. The two promotions have worked together for nearly two decades through international talent exchanges, developmental excursions, championship matches and the annual Fantastica Mania series.
Fantastica Mania has traditionally celebrated the partnership by placing wrestlers from both companies throughout collaborative cards and mixed-team matches. Lucha Kingdom is being positioned differently. The emphasis is not simply on NJPW and CMLL sharing a ring. It is on New Japan facing CMLL directly.
That distinction gives the new event an identity of its own.
Arena México will provide CMLL with an unmistakable home-field advantage as NJPW enters one of the most historic and emotionally charged wrestling buildings in the world. Every victory by a New Japan wrestler will come against the support of a heavily pro-CMLL audience, while every Mexican victory can be framed as a defense of the company’s territory.
It is a simple premise, but it gives the card an immediate narrative foundation. Japanese strong style, striking, submissions and heavyweight physicality can be placed against the speed, aerial movement, intricate mat wrestling and trios traditions associated with CMLL.
The first Lucha Kingdom was announced during Fantastica Mania Mexico on June 19. That event demonstrated how effectively the NJPW and CMLL rosters can work together, but it was not built entirely around promotion-versus-promotion competition. Lucha Kingdom will take the relationship in a more confrontational direction while preserving the mutual respect that has kept the partnership intact for years.
No wrestlers or matches have been officially announced for the November 16 card. Broadcast information has also not been confirmed.
That leaves NJPW and CMLL with several months to determine how seriously they intend to treat the concept. The strength of the participating rosters will ultimately decide whether Lucha Kingdom feels like a genuine international supercard or another collaborative event operating under a new name.
For the premise to work, both promotions must send wrestlers capable of representing their respective identities at the highest level. The show cannot rely exclusively on lower-card talent and novelty matchups while advertising itself as a battle for promotional pride.
Lucha Kingdom also creates opportunities beyond one night in Mexico City. A CMLL wrestler defeating an NJPW champion could earn a future title match in Japan. A New Japan victory over one of CMLL’s leading names could create a rematch or escalating series. An evenly divided card could lead to another Lucha Kingdom event and potentially bring the concept to Japan.
That long-term potential makes the launch important.
The wrestling industry is crowded with crossover events, but Lucha Kingdom has a chance to avoid feeling interchangeable. NJPW and CMLL do not need additional companies, overloaded multi-promotional matches or a collection of unrelated dream bouts. Their strongest attraction is already clear: Mexico against Japan inside Arena México.
Tickets went on general sale July 18 through Ticketmaster Mexico. The current listing places a limit of eight tickets per purchaser and lists prices in Mexican pesos.
Lucha Kingdom will take place Monday, November 16, at 5 p.m. local time from Arena México in Mexico City. Additional announcements regarding the match card, participating wrestlers and international broadcast availability are expected closer to the event.
