The month of July kicks off with a bang as WWE NXT brings the action to the Performance Center—part of WWE’s Atlanta Takeover weekend—and sets the stage for what promises to be a pivotal summer in pro wrestling. While tonight’s episode was taped last week and spoilers are floating around the internet, LNC Wrestling is locked in to cover every twist and turn as it airs.
Tonight’s main event features a high-stakes clash with championship implications, as NXT standout Yoshiki Inamura steps into the spotlight against breakout rookie and WWE LFG: Legends and Future Greats Season One winner Jasper Troy. The winner will earn a coveted opportunity to challenge Oba Femi for the NXT Championship at The Great American Bash. This all came to a head after Femi demanded worthy challengers step up—prompting Inamura to answer the call before being blindsided by Troy, who clearly isn’t finished with “The Ruler of NXT.”
The TNA World Title picture also begins to take shape, as former champion Joe Hendry launches his road to redemption. After Trick Williams recruited The High Ryze—Wes Lee, Tyriek Igwe, and Tyson DuPont—to handle his “Average Joe” problem, Hendry responded by officially invoking his rematch clause for the Slammiversary main event on July 20. But there’s a twist: fresh off a brutal street fight win over AJ Francis, “The Standard” Mike Santana has declared his own intentions to enter the title conversation, potentially turning the main event into a high-stakes triple threat.
Also on tonight’s card, Myles Borne—newly freed from the No Quarter Catch Crew—makes his in-ring return following a heated backstage altercation that involved two Florida Gators football players. He’ll go one-on-one with the reinvented and reenergized Skinny Lexis King, who’s out to prove that a new look means a new chapter.
With WWE Great American Bash, TNA Slammiversary, and the all-women’s WWE Evolution event all rapidly approaching, the question now is clear: how will tonight’s NXT shape the road ahead for the stars of tomorrow—and for the titles that define them?
Here is everything advertised for tonight’s show:
Yoshiki Inamura vs Jasper Troy (NXT Championship #1 contender’s match)
Wes Lee vs Joe Hendry
Myles Borne vs Lexis King
