Former WWE and AEW superstar and tag team legend, Matt Hardy recently made his return to TNA after the main event of Rebellion last month confronting TNA World Heavyweight Champion Moose. This was a shock to the wrestling world as Hardy has been in All Elite Wrestling since 2020.
It was reported by Fightful that Hardy’s contract was set to expire at the end of March.
On a recent episode of his own podcast, “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” with co-host Jon Alba Hardy explained why he didn’t re-sign with AEW:
“I think the reason that I did not re-sign with AEW initially was because I want to play a more substantial in what AEW is doing going forward, especially for me on TV. I want to be in something that is important, that is captivating, because that’s what I want, especially with only a few years left to do this. We talked about some stuff and there were some deals, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. We talked more and we’re still talking, talks haven’t ended or ceased.”

I’m the quiet one until the bell rings then I’ve got takes. I live for WWE NXT and TNA, I want every promotion to succeed, and I will absolutely roast the bad decisions on sight (because someone has to). Anime taught me to respect long-term storytelling; wrestling taught me that sometimes the plan is “we panicked” and called it “unpredictable.” The Miz got me into all of this, so yeah I appreciate confidence, commitment, and the art of talking like you’re already the main event. Now I bring that same energy to the page as the main writer for Late Night Crew Wrestling because if you’re not here to be must-see and tell the truth, why are you here?!
