Former TNA President Scott D’Amore’s next project, Maple Leaf Wrestling, kicks off this weekend with a two-night event. For this to come to fruition, D’Amore still had some contractual obligations with Total Nonstop Action.
It was announced earlier this year in a shocking manner that Scott D’Amore was let go from the company. The entire locker room and more backstage had pushed to save his job, but ultimately, the parent company, Anthem Entertainment, let him go. He was replaced by Anthem’s VP of Operations, Anthony Cicione.
According to Fightful Select, D’Amore is still being paid for a full year since his firing and had a non-compete clause. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful spoke with D’Amore himself, who confirmed the non-compete clause and came to an agreement allowing him to take over Maple Leaf Wrestling.
The Canadian-based promotion, initially known as Queensbury Athletic Club, was founded in 1930 by Jack Corcoran. He then found himself in a promotional war until 1931, when he aligned himself with the new Maple Leaf Gardens, effectively taking control of wrestling in Toronto.
The promotion became defunct back in 1984, before it was announced on August 8th of this year that former TNA President Scott D’Amore was reviving the promotion.
The name of the two-night event is called Forged In Excellence and is taking place from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Both shows will air on Triller TV and will feature wrestlers from TNA, New Japan Pro Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling, Mexico, and more.
Here is the full night one card:

Night two will see two championships on the line. TNA’s Josh Alexander will challenge AEW’s own Konosuke Takeshita for his newly won AEW International Championship. We will also see former TNA Knockout “The Quintessential Diva” Gisele Shaw challenge “The Forever Champion” Athena for the ROH Women’s World Championship.
