MLW Fusion needs to turn last week’s confrontations into something that moves the show forward tonight. MLW World Heavyweight Champion Killer Kross and Matt Riddle face The Skyscrapers in a New York City Street Fight, carrying their own unresolved championship business into a partnership neither man can comfortably trust. The 2026 Opera Cup resumes with Big Damo against Wolfgang and Ikuro Kwon against Andrew Everett, while LaBron Kozone promises payback and JUMBO returns to action. Last week delivered strong wrestling and several useful conflicts. Tonight needs to give those conflicts consequences, especially with Saturday Night SuperFight approaching on November 7.

Last week’s October 1 episode of MLW Fusion made the street fight worth anticipating before anybody reached for a weapon. Kross acknowledged Josh Bishop’s toughness following their No Holds Barred championship fight in Chattanooga. Donovan Dijak immediately wanted the attention redirected toward himself, presenting himself as the captain and Bishop as the kid. Kross found a weakness inside The Skyscrapers: Bishop can chase the world championship, but Dijak still expects him to accept a subordinate role.
That gives tonight’s match a personal issue beyond beating Kross. Bishop has reason to resent being talked down to, and Dijak has reason to tighten his control. A win could strengthen their partnership while leaving that resentment intact. A loss could give each man somebody to blame. MLW Fusion should allow Bishop’s response to develop instead of letting another brawl bury it.
Riddle’s arrival added a second unstable partnership. He reminded Kross that the champion owes him, then Bishop attacked and all four men fought. Scarlett Bordeaux’s street-fight suggestion gave the confrontation a destination. Her involvement worked because she helped create the next match rather than simply accompanying Kross through another argument.
Kross and Riddle now have to protect each other with the world championship still dividing them. Riddle’s interest in Kross’ title survives tonight’s arrangement. Every missed save or disagreement has a reason to matter. Tonight’s MLW Fusion should put that distrust under pressure; a collection of weapon spots would leave the most interesting part of the match untouched. Whoever earns the deciding fall should also leave with a stronger argument in the world-title picture.
The strongest wrestling on last week’s MLW Fusion came from Templario’s victory over Soberano Jr. The middleweight champion’s power met an opponent who kept attacking his mask and cutting off his offense. Soberano’s destroyer and twisting aerial attack supplied spectacular near falls, but his attempts to humiliate Templario gave the exchanges an edge. Templario survived and finished him with a backbreaker. The match showed how much the CMLL partnership can contribute when the visitors receive enough time to wrestle and establish their personalities.
Mark Coffey’s Lightning Match victory over Beastman was less convincing. Beastman’s cannonball established his size as a problem, but the missed Vader Bomb, with Joe Coffey and Wolfgang distracting him, handed Mark the opening for the winning kick. The Glasgow Boys then bullied Rich Bocchini and targeted The Good Brothers and the MLW World Tag Team Championship. The ambition is clear. Their case would improve considerably with a win that demonstrates more than their ability to exploit a distracted opponent.
That pursuit connects to two advertised developments on MLW Fusion tonight. Wolfgang can advance in the Opera Cup, while Kozone intends to make the group answer for its attack on Teddy Long. Kozone already defeated Joe Coffey in the opening round on September 12. His revenge story therefore has an actual accomplishment behind it. Tonight’s message needs to explain what comes next; another promise to get even would add little to the victory he already earned.
Wolfgang faces a different problem in Big Damo. Damo represents CONTRA Unit, giving this opening-round match stakes for two factions seeking more influence. Both men can absorb punishment and force the other into a physical fight. The useful question is who can control that fight long enough to finish it. Oddyssey has already advanced past Okumura and awaits the winner, so tonight determines a specific quarterfinal rather than merely adding another name to a loose list of contenders.
Ikuro Kwon against Andrew Everett gives MLW Fusion a different tournament matchup. Everett’s aerial offense requires space and timing; Kwon’s striking gives him a way to punish the preparation before a big move ever happens. Everett needs to create openings without becoming predictable. Kwon needs a decisive victory that establishes him as a tournament threat. CONTRA’s reputation can introduce the danger, but the match still has to demonstrate it. The winner will eventually face whoever advances from Matt Riddle against Mark Coffey.
Austin Aries has already changed the other half of the bracket on MLW Fusion. He beat Tracy Williams, then attacked Místico during the September 17 opening-round match against Trevor Lee. Lee advanced by countout, ending Místico’s attempt to win a third consecutive Opera Cup. Their forced partnership at FIGHTLAND on September 24 deepened the grievance. Last week, Aries embraced his Phantom of the Opera Cup persona and dismissed Riddle’s chances against him.
That arrogance has a concrete consequence: Aries’ quarterfinal opponent is Trevor Lee, and Místico now has unfinished business outside the tournament. MLW Fusion should keep those two developments connected without confusing them. Aries and Riddle remain on opposite sides of the bracket; a tournament meeting would require both to reach the final. Riddle’s loss to Brick Savage on September 12 was a separate match and did not eliminate him from the Opera Cup.
The women’s main event last week created another rivalry that deserves attention. An earlier Shotzi profile introduced the champion before H.A.T.E. defeated Shotzi Blackheart and Lady Frost. Saya Kamitani and RINA maintained their cooperation while the opposing partners fought over tags and positioning. RINA’s pinfall victory gave the STARDOM visitors a meaningful debut win. Shotzi and Frost then came to blows, with the crowd chanting for officials to let them fight. The audience understood the conflict because the match had shown it developing.
Shotzi’s championship gives that resentment somewhere to go. MLW Fusion needs to preserve H.A.T.E.’s achievement while developing the champion’s issue with Frost. The visitors earned credibility; they should have a future beyond providing the backdrop for somebody else’s feud. A follow-up tonight would keep the loss relevant after the visitors’ debut.
CONTRA’s broadcast interruption and closing violence on MLW Fusion were more difficult to translate into a clear next step. The episode opened with a recap of Masha Slamovich’s arrival at FIGHTLAND, where she attacked Clara Carter, replaced her against Frost and won. Last week also reinforced her association with Josef Samael’s faction. The takeover messages and fireball imagery maintained the threat, but the targets and immediate consequences needed clearer explanation. Damo and Kwon’s tournament matches give CONTRA an opportunity to gain something viewers can actually track tonight.
There was also a Japanese-language teaser built around The Unbound imagery. It invited speculation about another arrival without settling that wrestler’s role on MLW Fusion. Another recognizable name can generate attention, but the reveal needs a purpose beyond extending the list of unexplained developments.
The praise for last week’s wrestling and the criticism of its continuity can both be justified. The return to New York footage after the FIGHTLAND broadcast complicated the sense of weekly progression, and the Opera Cup has waited while other stories took priority. Tonight’s two opening-round matches should restore some momentum. Viewers need to see the competition narrowing and understand which match comes next.
JUMBO’s return gives MLW Fusion another opportunity to establish a distinct attraction. His opponent has not been named in the current promotion. Size will command attention; the performance needs to explain why another appearance matters. With Beastman, Damo and the towering street-fight participants already providing heavyweight spectacle, JUMBO needs a recognizable identity of his own.
MLW Fusion now has a confirmed destination in Saturday Night SuperFight, the promotion’s return to pay-per-view after seven years. The November 7 event at Chicago’s Cicero Stadium is sold out and will stream live on VEEPS. Tessa Blanchard’s MLW debut has also been announced for that event, with her opponent still to be revealed. The expanded lineup raises expectations, but tonight’s television has its own work to do: strengthen the existing rivalries and make the road to Chicago easier to follow.

Final Thoughts
MLW Fusion has a strong reason to watch tonight: a street fight with problems inside both teams and tournament matches that determine identifiable next-round opponents. Last week’s best wrestling showed what this roster can deliver. Tonight needs to make the surrounding stories equally dependable. Bishop’s treatment, Riddle’s championship ambitions, Kozone’s revenge and CONTRA’s pursuit of the Cup all have somewhere to go. The show will feel more important if those issues move forward before the next round of threats begins.

I’m the quiet one until the bell rings then I’ve got takes. I live for WWE NXT and TNA, I want every promotion to succeed, and I will absolutely roast the bad decisions on sight (because someone has to). Anime taught me to respect long-term storytelling; wrestling taught me that sometimes the plan is “we panicked” and called it “unpredictable.” The Miz got me into all of this, so yeah I appreciate confidence, commitment, and the art of talking like you’re already the main event. Now I bring that same energy to the page as the main writer for Late Night Crew Wrestling because if you’re not here to be must-see and tell the truth, why are you here?!
