WWE’s third brand has a new home this fall as NXT moves from the USA Network to the CW beginning Tuesday October 1st, 2024.
Last year it was announced that WWE had five year deal with the network valued between 20 and 25 million dollars a year.
This deal is historic as it will mark the first time the show has aired weekly on broadcast television since becoming a weekly show back in 2012.
Here is what WWE President Nick Khan had to say about the television deal:
“Between the new leadership and ownership, the economics of the deal and with their broadcast network now being in over 100 million homes, it became a no brainer to move NXT, one of our signature weekly shows, to the CW.”
NXT may be seen as a developmental brand but for years has occasionally outshine the main roster. According to WWE, 90% of the WrestleMania 38 card was developed in NXT.
This move comes off the heels of the network being acquired by Nexstar who is looking to live sports to the channel. They currently air ACC football and basketball, Inside the NFL, and LIV Golf. It also with noting that the NASCAR Xfinity Series will air on The CW next year.
