Back in 2021 AEW’s Adam Copeland fka Edge was in a feud with Seth “Freakin” Rollins leading up to Summerslam. It was during this feud that we saw the return of “Brood Edge” as we saw Rollins dose in a “bloodbath.” Copeland was bring back the gimmick again the following year in his return at Summerslam helping the Mysterios defeat The Judgement Day in a No Disqualification Tag Team Match.
The Brood was a stable introduced back in 1998 and lasted for a year during the WWF Attitude Era. The original three members of the group were Gangrel, Copeland and Christian. The group would go on to feud with The Ministry of Darkness and The Hardy Boyz.
Recently the current TNT Champion sat down with Chris Van Vilet and spoke about WWE shutting down the idea of Gangrel returning to the company.
“I tried and I just got shut down. Every person shut it down. So this isn’t a knock on WWE, but I’d always get the well nobody remembers. People remember, wrestling fans remember and I think wrestling fans want to be rewarded for remembering. And that’s a way to reward them. That’s what I’ve always felt. I think you know, you fast forward to me and Matt Cardona doing a Cope Open. And his music hits and he comes out. I mean, they remembered. And so I’ve always been a fan of pulling in things from the past and kind of integrating them into current things. But yeah, that was one I just kept getting shut down. I realised, okay, that was not a hill to die on because it didn’t get to happen. It’s not my sandbox, I got to do with what I’ve been given.”
