Bryan Danielson’s Future Following AEW WrestleDream

Last night in the main event of AEW WrestleDream we saw the end of the full time wrestling career of “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. Danielson who signed with the company back in 2021 when he made his debut at the All Out event of that year. After three years in the company he would eventually become the AEW World Champion defeating then champion Swerve Strickland in a title vs career match at All In London.

Before his championship win Danielson announced that his contract with the company expired on August 1st of this year and that he would need neck surgery meaning that he was working without a contract. After his win at Wembley Stadium he announced that once he loses the world title he would retire from full time competition.

Following his first championship defense against TNT Champion Jack Perry The American Dragon was betrayed by his fellow Blackpool Combat members Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley as they savagely attacked him and Mox staking his claim for the world title.

Now that Moxley has defeated Danielson for the gold and began his fourth reign what is next for Bryan Danielson.

According to Fightful Select Bryan’s full time career is officially over and that Danielson handpicked Moxley to end his career.

We also have learned that AEW was hoping that Danielson would be cleared to compete in this year’s Blood and Guts match joining Team AEW against The Elite but alas the company’s medical team wouldn’t clear him.

Many fans believed that Bryan’s interviews about his health status was just a work to further the story of his full time retirement but Fightful has reported that everything was true. The doctors only cleared the now former champion for regular matches only.

Now following WrestleDream Danielson is a free agent and no one has reached out to him with a contract. Another thing to note is that the All In main event was planned out since earlier this year and the match itself was produced by former WWE superstar Chris Hero fka Kassius Ohno.

The belief in AEW is that Bryan will get neck surgery and once he is cleared to wrestle that he will stay with the company and wrestle periodically.

Lastly a fun fact all of Danielson’s last matches in both WWE and AEW were with the three Shield members.

We at LNC Wrestljng would like to wish Bryan Danielson well in full time retirement.
