Gisele Shaw signs with NWA after spending months proving why the National Wrestling Alliance wanted to make the relationship official.
NWA President William Patrick Corgan announced Shaw’s signing during Saturday’s edition of NWA Powerrr, which aired on Comet and was simulcast on CHARGE! The promotion officially confirmed the agreement afterward, with Fightful’s Andrew Thompson reporting the announcement Saturday evening.
The length of Shaw’s contract and whether the agreement is exclusive were not disclosed.
That distinction matters because Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s latest aired programming still identifies Shaw as its Women’s Canadian Champion. Nothing announced by the NWA establishes that she is leaving MLP or working exclusively for one promotion.
Gisele Shaw Signs With NWA After Already Proving Her Value
Calling Shaw a new addition to the NWA would miss most of the story.
She had already become a regular part of the women’s division before Saturday’s announcement and spent much of 2026 establishing herself within the promotion.
That run reached another level at the 2026 Crockett Cup when Shaw defeated Tiffany Nieves for the NWA Women’s World Television Championship. The title change later aired May 1 on the debut edition of NWA Powerrr on Comet, ending Nieves’ record-setting reign.
The NWA specifically highlighted that championship victory when announcing Shaw’s signing.
That history makes this considerably different from the usual announcement of a promotion signing someone and hoping the relationship works.
The NWA already knows it works.
Shaw has wrestled on its television, competed prominently within its women’s division and been trusted with championship gold.
Saturday simply made the relationship official.
Shaw Has Built More Championship Success Since Leaving TNA
The signing also continues what has become a productive second chapter for Shaw following her departure from TNA.
Shaw became a regular member of the Knockouts division in early 2022. She remained consistently featured and received multiple championship opportunities, but she never captured a TNA championship.
She ultimately requested her release in 2024, and TNA granted it.
Her career since then has produced considerably more championship success.
Shaw defeated Kylie Rae in May 2025 to become the inaugural MLP Women’s Canadian Champion and has remained one of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s central women.
She later added the NWA Women’s World Television Championship to her résumé.
As recently as May, Shaw still publicly described herself as a free agent and said her priority was continuing to deliver strong matches rather than chasing another contract.
A few months later, the NWA made its commitment official.
That might be the most meaningful part of the story.
Shaw did not spend the period after TNA simply waiting for another company to decide what she was worth. She established herself elsewhere, won championships and created enough value that the NWA eventually decided it wanted to put a contract behind the relationship.
Signing Shaw Was Obvious—Now the NWA Has to Make It Matter
From the NWA’s perspective, signing Shaw makes complete sense.
She brings years of television experience, international credibility and enough versatility to work throughout the division. More importantly, the promotion already had months of evidence that she fit its product.
But Gisele Shaw signing with NWA should not automatically be presented as some transformational roster acquisition.
She was already there.
She was already being featured.
She had already won championship gold.
That makes what happens after the signing considerably more important than the announcement itself.
If Shaw occupies essentially the same position under contract that she occupied as a free agent, the move ultimately amounts to the NWA putting paperwork behind a relationship viewers were already watching.
If the contract represents a greater commitment to making Shaw one of the central pieces of its women’s division, there is considerably more upside.
There is also no reason to frame the signing as Shaw choosing the NWA over Maple Leaf Pro. The NWA did not publicly describe the agreement as exclusive, while MLP’s latest aired programming still recognizes Shaw as Women’s Canadian Champion.
Anything beyond those facts would be speculation.

Making the signing matter is now up to the NWA.
