According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Ali was one of the strongest advocates for establishing newer talent in TNA and specifically wanted Hotch to improve his position within the company. Ali has also reportedly been informally scouting wrestlers while working independent events and recommending potential additions to TNA.
That backstage support adds another layer to Hotch defeating Ali for the TNA International Championship during Thursday night’s live episode of TNA iMPACT!.
Hotch’s victory was presented as a shocking breakthrough for a wrestler who had spent much of his time in Order 4 operating beneath Ali. Behind the storyline, however, the title change now appears to reflect Ali’s genuine desire to help Hotch take a meaningful step forward.

His recommendations could help TNA identify wrestlers who are not only talented but prepared to contribute.
TNA does not have the same financial resources as WWE or AEW, making early talent identification even more important. The company’s best strategy is not attempting to outbid larger promotions for every established name. It is discovering performers before their market value rises and providing opportunities that other companies overlooked.
