Former NXT North American and NXT Champion, Carmelo Hayes has made a few appearances on Friday Night SmackDown including two matches against Former United States Champion and Money In The Bank Holder, Austin Theory.
According to Fightful Select Hayes was set for a main roster call up since prior to the Royal Rumble. He is expected to join the main roster full time this summer.
At NXT’s last premium live event, Vengeance Day Hayes turned on his long time friend Trick Williams. This has since set them on a collision course at next month’s NXT Stand and Deliver premium live event on WrestleMania Saturday. Multiple NXT sources have told Corey Brennan of Fightful Select that Hayes and Williams could be the main event of the show.
An official has also noted that WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels has been very hands on with their storyline. Michaels is known to have been a long time supporter of Hayes.
Trick Williams made a surprise SmackDown appearance back in January coming to the aid of Hayes. It was during this appearance that Williams got a massive reaction from the fans. Since then officials have made pitches to continue their feud on the main roster but as of now Williams’ plans remain unclear post Stand and Deliver.
