TripleMania 34 Night 2 brings AAA back home to Mexico City tonight with far more going for it than simply finishing the first two-night TripleMania in company history. Dominik Mysterio defends the AAA Mega Championship against El Grande Americano after Omos regained his place in AAA by destroying Rey Mysterio on Friday. Rey Fenix puts the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship on the line against three challengers roughly two days after successfully defending it on SmackDown. Flammer has La Catalina in front of her and Roxanne Perez waiting at Worlds Collide. Psycho Clown finally gets El Carnicero in a Mexican Street Fight after Carnicero helped cost Psycho Circus the World Trios Championship. Night 1 created consequences. TripleMania 34 Night 2 now has to make them matter, and Mexico City should provide the atmosphere Las Vegas never consistently delivered.

- War Raiders (c) vs. TBD (AAA World Tag Team Championship Open Challenge)
- Psycho Clown vs. El Carnicero (Mexican Street Fight)
- Copa Bardahl Match
Friday gave AAA two very different stages.
SmackDown in Mexico City was useful precisely because WWE did not overcomplicate the AAA material. Fenix returned home and successfully defended the World Cruiserweight Championship against Ricky Saints. Saints landed the Revolution DDT and threatened Rochambeau, but Fenix countered before eventually finishing him with the Mexican Muscle Buster. Fenix therefore arrives at TripleMania 34 Night 2 looking like a champion rather than someone simply carrying a belt into a four-way.
The War Raiders received the same treatment. Erik and Ivar retained the AAA World Tag Team Championship against Damian Priest and R-Truth after taking Priest out with an assisted pop-up powerslam and hitting Ragnarok on Truth. Priest attacking Truth afterward moved the losing challengers into their own problem while leaving tonight’s open challenge completely untouched.
Then TripleMania 34 Night 1 in Las Vegas showed both the upside and the obvious problem with AAA’s two-night experiment.
The crowd was not dead for everything. The response was simply too inconsistent for TripleMania.
The Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Elimination Match was the clearest exception. Fraxiom eliminated the LWO and Tokyo Bad Boys before the match came down to Fraxiom and Los Americanos. Axiom accidentally struck Nathan Frazer while attempting the same combination that had helped Fraxiom score earlier eliminations, and Los Americanos eventually capitalized to win. It was the strongest match of Night 1 and the portion of the show that came closest to the frantic energy TripleMania should have from beginning to end.
Roxanne Perez also left Las Vegas with a future AAA Reina de Reinas Championship opportunity. Flammer attempted to hit Perez with the championship, Perez ducked, Flammer narrowly avoided hitting La Hiedra, and Perez used the confusion to hit Pop Rox for the victory. Perez will challenge whoever leaves tonight as champion at Worlds Collide.
That puts another layer on Flammer against Catalina.
Catalina earned tonight’s opportunity at Ola de Calor after Flammer’s interference went even worse. Flammer attempted to strike Catalina with the championship, Catalina moved and Flammer accidentally hit her own Las Toxicas partner La Hiedra. Catalina capitalized and won the gauntlet.
Now Flammer enters TripleMania 34 Night 2 with trouble forming around Las Toxicas, Catalina trying to take her championship and Perez already waiting for the winner.
La Parka retained the AAA Latin American Championship against Mr. Iguana and Laredo Kid, but Night 1’s biggest championship change came afterward.
Panic Clown was not medically cleared for the AAA World Trios Championship defense, forcing Psycho Clown into his place alongside Dave The Clown and Murder Clown. Carnicero eventually emerged from the crowd, attacked Dave and pulled Psycho into a fight that disappeared backstage. Psycho never returned.
Los Perros del Mal took advantage and ended Psycho Circus’ 663-day championship reign.
That escalates an already-booked Mexican Street Fight into something much more personal tonight.
Psycho already wanted Carnicero. Now Carnicero’s interference is directly attached to the loss of the championships. A match that originally grew out of Carnicero’s attacks has become Psycho’s first chance to answer for what happened to his team in Las Vegas.
Then Omos changed the entire landscape surrounding the AAA Mega Championship.
Rey Mysterio tried to chop the giant down piece by piece, attacking his legs and connecting with multiple 619s before hitting the Frog Splash. Dominik eventually struck El Grande Americano with a chair on the floor, Omos recovered and one Chokeslam ended Rey’s attempt to remove him from AAA.
Winning reinstated Omos.
What happened afterward was worse.
Omos returned while Rey was strapped to a backboard, lifted him and drove the board through the announce table. Night 1 ended with Rey destroyed, Omos reinstated and one of Dominik’s biggest potential advantages available again.
That is the problem Americano inherits tonight.
TripleMania 34 Night 2: Dominik Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano Cannot Become an Interference Exhibition
Dominik against Americano already had enough history to carry TripleMania 34 Night 2. Friday finally gave the match the urgency it needed.
Americano stood with Rey. Dominik stood with Omos. Dominik directly involved himself in the Night 1 main event, Omos regained his AAA status and Rey was left lying after the final attack.
The obvious question is whether Omos becomes involved tonight.
AAA has not advertised that, so it should not be treated as guaranteed. Pretending the possibility does not exist after Friday would be just as ridiculous.
The danger is overbooking the championship match until Dominik and Americano become secondary characters in their own main event. Interference can enhance the story. It should not become the entire story.
If Americano wins the AAA Mega Championship, the moment needs to belong to him. If Dominik retains, the finish needs to justify keeping AAA’s top championship around his waist rather than simply finding another escape route.
Mexico City will provide enough emotion without AAA manufacturing more than the story needs.
TripleMania 34 Night 2: Rey Fenix Has the Match With the Highest Ceiling
Fenix against Frazer, Mini Vikingo and Jack Cartwheel has the highest pure wrestling ceiling on tonight’s card.
Frazer, Vikingo and Cartwheel originally fought in a No. 1 Contender’s Match at Ola de Calor that reached its 20-minute time limit without producing a winner. Rather than choose one challenger, Fenix agreed to defend against all three.
Now the champion enters after beating Saints on SmackDown.
Frazer already competed in Night 1’s best match. Vikingo scored the deciding fall in Friday’s opener. Cartwheel was part of that same match. All three have already wrestled once during TripleMania weekend, while Fenix arrives after successfully defending his championship on SmackDown.
The temptation will be obvious: four absurdly athletic wrestlers trying to outdo one another from the opening bell.
That is also the danger.
The match does not need to become an endless collection of moves designed for clips. Give the biggest moments room to matter and this could steal TripleMania 34 Night 2.
The War Raiders’ open challenge carries a different kind of intrigue. Erik and Ivar already survived Priest and Truth on SmackDown, but AAA has still not revealed who will face them tonight. The surprise will get the first reaction. The quality of the team answering it will determine whether the match means anything once the bell rings.
The Copa Bardahl remains even more unpredictable because its competitors have not been officially revealed.
Final Thoughts
TripleMania 34 Night 2 should be the stronger half of the weekend.
Friday did useful work. Omos regained his place in AAA. Rey Mysterio was destroyed. Los Perros del Mal ended a 663-day championship reign. Psycho Clown gained another reason to want El Carnicero hurt. Roxanne Perez became the next Reina de Reinas challenger. Los Americanos scored the standout tag-team victory of Night 1. SmackDown kept both Fenix and the War Raiders strong before they defend their championships again tonight.
TripleMania 34 Night 2 does not need more setup.
It needs payoff.
Las Vegas produced good wrestling without consistently producing the atmosphere expected from AAA’s biggest event. Mexico City should solve much of that problem immediately. The rest is on the booking.
Let Dominik and Americano carry the main event. Let Fenix’s four-way breathe. Give Flammer and Catalina a championship match that matters beyond interference. Let Psycho and Carnicero make Friday’s title loss feel consequential.
The stories are already there.
TripleMania 34 Night 2 just has to trust them.
