WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler is no longer with the company according to PWInsider thus ending the relationship between the two dating all the way back to 1992.
Lawler would make his debut for the company back in December of 1992 as an announcer for Superstars. He wouldn’t make his in-ring debut until the 1993 Royal Rumble. Since then Lawler has had feuds with Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Doink The Clown and The Miz. He was eventually inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2007.
The reasoning for Lawler’s departure from WWE is that the company has decided to not renew his Legends contract.
Here is what their sources had to say about Lawler’s departure:
“Under the previous ownership, Lawler would have always been “taken care of” and connected with the company in some way contractually, but this is a “new era — the old company is dead”.

I’m the quiet one until the bell rings then I’ve got takes. I live for WWE NXT and TNA, I want every promotion to succeed, and I will absolutely roast the bad decisions on sight (because someone has to). Anime taught me to respect long-term storytelling; wrestling taught me that sometimes the plan is “we panicked” and called it “unpredictable.” The Miz got me into all of this, so yeah I appreciate confidence, commitment, and the art of talking like you’re already the main event. Now I bring that same energy to the page as the main writer for Late Night Crew Wrestling because if you’re not here to be must-see and tell the truth, why are you here?!
