WWE has officially announced that Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant from WrestleMania III will receive the 2026 WWE Immortal Moment Award during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday, April 17 in Las Vegas.
It is a legacy announcement, but it also says a lot about how WWE wants its history remembered.
This is not the company honoring Hogan vs. Andre as its most technically accomplished match. It is honoring the match because of what it represents. The body slam, the leg drop, the visual of Hogan standing tall over Andre, and the scale of the spectacle itself have outlived the bout as an in-ring performance. WWE is recognizing the image, the cultural weight behind it, and the role it played in turning WrestleMania into something larger than a wrestling event.
That is why this announcement matters.
