Former NXT UK Tag Team Champions To Make AEW Debut On AEW Collision This Week

Today it was announced to shock of the wrestling industry that former NXT UK Tag Team Champions, The Grizzles Young Vets would be making their AEW debuts this Saturday on Collision.

This moment was announced in a digital exclusive backstage interview with Lexy Nair:

GYV composed of James Drake and Zack Gibson have been wrestling on the UK independent scene for years before Drake catching his big break in 2017 competing in a tournament to crown the inaugural WWE NXT UK Champion. Drake would lose in the first round to Joseph Connors.

Gibson would show up in WWE just a year later also competing in an NXT UK Tournament to become the #1 contender to then champion Pete Dunne. Gibson would however unsuccessfully challenge Dunne.

GYV would remain with WWE for five years and in that time they would become the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions defeating Mustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool. In 2020 they would come stateside and join NXT latter changing their name and forming the group known as Schism with Joe Gacy and current NXT GM Ava.

Gibson and Drake would request their release last year but the company decided to let their contracts expire instead.

In December it was announced that GYV would be making their TNA debuts at Hard To Kill. Since joining TNA they have challenged for the tag team titles a couple of times including a best of three series with The ABC (Ace Austin and Chris Bey) but were unsuccessful.

This Saturday on Collision The Grizzled Young Vets will be taking on former AEW World Tag Team and Trios Champions, The Acclaimed.
