With WWE SummerSlam less than three weeks away, the July 14th, 2025 edition of Monday Night RAW live from Birmingham, Alabama, brought a thunderous follow-up to an electric weekend that saw the fallout of Saturday Night’s Main Event and Evolution. Fresh off ending Goldberg’s career, World Heavyweight Champion Gunther watched from the shadows as a blockbuster Gauntlet Match—announced by Michael Cole at Evolution—determined his challenger for SummerSlam. The returning CM Punk overcame Penta, LA Knight, Jey Uso, and the rampaging Bron Breakker (who had assistance from Bronson Reed) to secure his long-awaited title opportunity. But chaos didn’t end at the final bell, as the assault on Punk and Jey sparked the shocking return of Roman Reigns, who sent a seismic jolt through the RAW brand by clearing house and standing tall beside two of the men most closely linked to his legacy—Uso and Punk.
Before any of that unfolded, it was the women of WWE who owned the spotlight. In a powerful and intentional showcase, the entire first hour of RAW was dominated by the women’s division—wrestlers, backstage interviewers, and even referees commanding the flow of the show with authority and presence. Newly crowned Women’s World Champion Naomi opened the broadcast with the title she captured the night before in a stunning cash-in at Evolution, turning the scheduled main event between Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley into a triple threat and pinning Sky to win it all. Her celebration was short-lived as both Sky and Ripley interrupted, leading to Adam Pearce making the SummerSlam rematch official. Later, Lyra Valkyria earned the right to challenge Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship by defeating Bayley in a grueling 2-out-of-3 Falls Match, a win that pushed her further toward her destiny. Elsewhere, Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez dispatched the Kabuki Warriors, asserting dominance and sending a warning to the rest of the tag division. And in her first singles match in years, Nikki Bella returned to RAW with a win over Chelsea Green, only to be saved from a post-match attack by the enigmatic Stephanie Vaquer—teasing a new alliance or future confrontation.
In the aftermath of the Gauntlet main event, next week’s RAW is already shaping up to be just as explosive: CM Punk and Jey Uso will team up to face Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed in tag team action, as Roman Reigns’ stunning return continues to raise questions. With matches now locked in for SummerSlam—including Gunther vs. Punk, Naomi vs. Ripley vs. Iyo Sky, and Lynch vs. Valkyria—the road to the biggest party of the summer is paved with momentum, mystery, and a roster brimming with purpose.
