WWE NXT August 4 2026 results gave tonight something NXT has lacked at times lately: consequences that actually mattered.

Kendal Grey made Lola Vice tap in Vice’s specialty match. Myles Borne and Tavion Heights ended Swipe Right’s NXT Tag Team Championship reign. Grayson Waller continued getting under the skin of nearly the entire roster, and NXT finally created a clear path toward Tony D’Angelo’s championship defense at Heatwave.

Tonight was good, but it was not flawless. The two biggest title matches delivered, while several of the supporting stories either repeated familiar mistakes or created opportunities that did not feel earned. The show worked because the important moments outweighed the questionable ones.

WWE also opened tonight with a memorial graphic for Dory Funk Jr. and later aired a respectful tribute recognizing his career and influence on professional wrestling.

WWE NXT August 4 2026 Results: Breakdown & Reactions

Jaida Parker and Thea Hail vs. Karmen Petrovic and Nikkita Lyons

Jaida Parker and Thea Hail opened tonight with a solid victory over Karmen Petrovic and Nikkita Lyons.

Hail spent most of the match trapped in the wrong corner while Natalya repeatedly interfered. Parker eventually received the hot tag and changed the pace before Hail finished Lyons with the diving Trust Fall senton.

Natalya’s group attempted another attack afterward, but Hail ducked and caused Natalya to accidentally hit Lyons. Parker and Hail then cleared the ring.

The match did what it needed to do. Parker looked physical, Hail brought energy, and their contrasting personalities made them an easy team to support.

The larger problem is Natalya’s group. WWE introduced Petrovic and Lyons as dangerous wrestlers learning from an experienced veteran, yet Natalya continues becoming the reason they fail. A heel faction can survive occasional miscommunication, but this group is starting to look incompetent before it has established any credibility.

What Worked

• Parker and Hail had clearly defined roles.
• Hail’s comeback created an energetic finish.
• Parker’s offense looked explosive.
• The babyfaces won through teamwork.

What Didn’t Work

• Natalya’s interference backfiring has already become predictable.
• Lyons taking another fall did nothing for her.
• Natalya’s group still does not feel dangerous.

Tony D’Angelo, Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana Set the Heatwave Direction

Tony D’Angelo called out Grayson Waller for disrespecting NXT and attempting to use the championship as a shortcut back to the main roster.

Waller responded from a safe distance rather than entering the ring. D’Angelo reminded him that Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams and D’Angelo himself became champions after the NXT 2.0 era, while Waller left without accomplishing the same thing.

That was the strongest line of the segment because it attacked the one part of Waller’s argument he cannot talk his way around.

Cruz Montana entered through the crowd and argued that he responded to adversity by working instead of complaining. Waller dismissed Montana’s background as another sad story, while Montana accused Waller of fighting only for himself.

D’Angelo eventually stopped listening to both men and proposed Waller versus Montana, with the winner challenging him at Heatwave.

This was the best talking segment of tonight. Each man had a different reason for wanting the championship, and nobody repeated the same generic argument about being the best.

Waller is also doing more to connect NXT’s stories than anyone else. Wrestlers are confronting him, agreeing with him or questioning whether his criticism of the roster was accurate. He has become the center of the men’s division without wrestling a match.

What Worked

• D’Angelo directly attacked Waller’s lack of championship success.
• Waller remained arrogant without being completely wrong.
• Montana provided a motivation different from both men.
• The segment established a clear Heatwave qualifying match.

What Didn’t Work

• Montana leaned heavily on the same hardship story again.
• Waller once again avoided confronting anyone physically.

Grade: A-

Wren Sinclair vs. Zaria

Wren Sinclair defended the WWE Women’s Speed Championship against Women’s North American Champion Zaria under the five-minute time limit.

Sinclair tried to use quick pinning combinations and sudden bursts of offense. Zaria slowed her down with power and appeared close to winning before both women spilled outside the ring during the closing seconds.

They returned before time expired, but Zaria could not complete the F5. The match ended in a draw, allowing Sinclair to retain. Zaria attacked her afterward and finally delivered the F5.

The action was fine. The logic was not.

Sinclair earned a shot at Zaria’s Women’s North American Championship by retaining the Speed title, but she retained without beating Zaria. She survived the clock. Those are not the same accomplishment.

WWE clearly wanted to protect both champions, but protection should not be more important than basic logic. Sinclair is receiving a bigger championship opportunity after failing to prove she could defeat the champion.

Next week needs a decisive result. Another draw, disqualification or interference finish would only make the entire setup feel more forced.

What Worked

• Sinclair wrestled with urgency.
• Zaria’s power created a strong contrast.
• The final minute felt legitimately frantic.
• Zaria’s attack added needed hostility.

What Didn’t Work

• Sinclair earned a title opportunity without winning.
• The finish protected both women at the expense of the story.
• Five minutes prevented the match from becoming anything substantial.

Myles Borne and Tavion Heights Win the NXT Tag Team Championship

Myles Borne and Tavion Heights entered tonight with an actual emotional reason to win.

Before the match, Heights admitted this was the biggest opportunity of his career. Borne reassured him that they were ready and promised they would leave together as champions.

Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes controlled portions of the match through traditional tag-team strategy and outside interference from Vanity Project. Borne and Heights eventually recovered, while the referee caught Jackson Drake and Myka Lockwood interfering and removed them from ringside.

Borne took Baylor out with Borne Again. Heights then hit Ricky Smokes with the Height of Glory and scored the deciding pin to win the championships.

Having Heights score the fall was absolutely the right decision.

Borne already entered tonight as North American Champion. He did not need another individual moment. Heights was the one who feared being forgotten, and he was the one who needed to finish the match.

The championship victory gave Heights his first WWE title while making Borne a double champion. That sounds impressive, but WWE now has to prove it can manage the situation without neglecting one of the divisions.

Borne cannot spend every week bouncing between two unrelated championship stories. One title cannot become an accessory while WWE focuses on the other.

Swipe Right losing the championships was surprising because Baylor and Smokes had become the tag division’s most consistent team. However, the division needed movement, and Borne and Heights feel more important after tonight than they did entering it.

What Worked

• Heights’ pre-match nerves gave the match emotional weight.
• Swipe Right worked like an established team.
• Heights scored the championship-winning fall.
• Borne and Heights overcame the outside interference.
• The title change felt earned.

What Didn’t Work

• Borne holding two championships could hurt both divisions.
• Vanity Project’s interference has become too predictable.
• NXT now needs credible challengers immediately.

Grade: A-

Keanu Carver vs. EK Prosper

Keanu Carver behaved differently against EK Prosper.

Instead of trying to destroy him immediately, Carver remained patient, showed restraint and even stopped himself from crashing into Booker T at ringside. Prosper took advantage and controlled large portions of the match with his speed.

Prosper nearly won after a series of kicks, a tornado DDT and a diving blockbuster. Carver eventually raised his knees to stop a moonsault and trapped Prosper in a small package.

The surprise pin was the story. Carver previously relied entirely on power. Tonight, he adjusted and accepted that winning mattered more than proving he could hurt Prosper.

That character development was interesting, but the match went too far in the opposite direction. Prosper controlled so much of the action that Carver sometimes looked passive instead of calculating.

Carver becoming calmer should make him more dangerous. It should not remove the physical threat that made him stand out.

What Worked

• Carver showed actual character development.
• Prosper’s offense looked sharp.
• The finish demonstrated that Carver adapted.
• Carver showed Prosper respect afterward.

What Didn’t Work

• Prosper controlled too much of the match.
• Carver lost some of his intensity.
• The match lasted longer than the story required.

Tonight’s Backstage Developments

Grayson Waller’s criticism continued spreading through the show.

Kelani Jordan told Waller she agreed with his assessment of the roster and promised to win the NXT Women’s Championship on her first attempt. Waller told her not to miss, immediately turning her confidence into pressure.

Mason Rook confronted Waller before Kam Hendrix attacked Rook from behind. DarkState also admitted Waller may have been right about the group becoming comfortable, with Dion Lennox promising to make an example out of Saquon Shugars.

That is what made Waller’s role effective. His promo did not disappear after one week. It forced other wrestlers to react.

OTM continued showing signs of separation. Bronco Nima apologized to Lucien Price for becoming distracted, while Price began considering his own singles opportunities. The story will be stronger if both men naturally grow apart instead of WWE forcing another predictable betrayal.

Shawn Spears also inserted himself into Lizzy Rain’s problems with Izzi Dame and Niko Vance. Rain immediately made it clear that she does not trust Spears, which was the only sensible reaction considering his history.

Grade: B

Kendal Grey Makes Lola Vice Tap in NXT Underground

The main event felt different before the bell rang.

The ropes were removed, wrestlers surrounded the ring and the darker presentation made the match feel more violent than a regular championship defense.

Grey tried to control Vice through takedowns and grappling. Vice created distance and relied on her striking. The fight eventually moved outside, where Vice sent Grey face-first into the steel steps.

Grey returned with her head bandaged and continued fighting despite appearing disoriented. Vice took control with kicks, suplexes and a rear-naked choke.

The referee was accidentally knocked down during the closing stretch. Grey briefly passed out in Vice’s choke, but Wren Sinclair entered and slapped her awake while no official was available to stop her.

That was the weakest part of the match. Sinclair physically reviving Grey should have created a larger controversy, especially when Grey eventually won.

Vice attempted to revive the referee instead of continuing her attack. Grey recovered, survived another series of strikes and countered into the cross armbar. Vice had nowhere to go and tapped.

Grey did not escape with a lucky pin. She made Vice submit in Vice’s specialty match.

That was the most important victory of Grey’s reign. She had already defeated Vice in a traditional match, but tonight removed the remaining doubt. Grey entered the environment built around Vice’s martial-arts background and beat her with a legitimate submission.

Vice raised Grey’s hand afterward, giving the rivalry a clean ending instead of forcing another attack or rematch.

What Worked

• The Underground presentation felt important.
• Grey and Vice stayed committed to their contrasting styles.
• Grey’s injury added real urgency.
• Vice remained dangerous throughout the match.
• Grey won decisively by submission.
• The post-match respect ended the rivalry properly.

What Didn’t Work

• Wren entering and waking Grey created unnecessary controversy.
• The referee bump was not needed.
• The match deserved more time.

Grade: A-

The Road to NXT Heatwave

The WWE NXT August 4 2026 results finally gave Heatwave a clear men’s championship direction.

Grayson Waller will face Cruz Montana next week, with the winner challenging Tony D’Angelo.

Waller winning would create the stronger story. His issue with D’Angelo is personal and tied directly to NXT’s identity. Waller believes the brand became comfortable without him, while D’Angelo represents the wrestlers who stayed and became champions.

Montana winning would create a more straightforward outsider-versus-champion match, but it would lack the history and tension already established between Waller and D’Angelo.

Kendal Grey’s direction is less obvious.

She has now defeated Lola Vice twice and submitted her in NXT Underground. WWE cannot follow that victory by handing someone a championship match with no momentum or story.

Kelani Jordan openly declared that she would win the championship on her first attempt, which may have quietly positioned her as Grey’s next challenger. Jordan still needs to earn that opportunity. A confident backstage statement should not automatically create a Heatwave title match.

Myles Borne and Tavion Heights also need credible challengers. Swipe Right has a reasonable argument for a rematch, but WWE should not reverse the title change simply to extend the feud.

Borne’s double-champion status is the larger concern. NXT must decide which championship receives his immediate attention instead of forcing him into two rushed Heatwave programs.

Wren Sinclair’s match against Zaria next week also needs a decisive winner. Sinclair received the opportunity through a technicality tonight. Next week must prove whether she can actually beat Zaria.

The road to NXT Heatwave has direction, but the card is not finished. NXT has enough stories in motion. It now needs to avoid rushing every unfinished angle onto the event.

Best Match and Segment

Best Match: Kendal Grey vs. Lola Vice

Grey and Vice delivered the most important match of tonight. The unnecessary referee drama lowered the grade slightly, but Grey making Vice tap was the right result.

Best Segment: Tony D’Angelo, Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana

All three men had clear motivations, and the segment created a match with direct Heatwave consequences.

Standout Performer: Kendal Grey

Grey defeated Vice in Vice’s match and ended the rivalry decisively.

Final Thoughts

Tonight’s NXT was good because its biggest matches mattered.

Kendal Grey received the defining victory her championship reign needed. Myles Borne and Tavion Heights winning the tag titles created a genuine moment, and Grayson Waller continued forcing the rest of the roster to respond to him.

The show still made several questionable choices. Wren Sinclair earned a larger title opportunity without winning. Natalya’s group already feels ineffective. Wren physically waking Grey during the main event unnecessarily complicated what should have been a completely clean victory.

None of those issues ruined tonight, but they prevented the show from being great.

NXT moved Heatwave forward, crowned new champions and gave its women’s champion a decisive main-event win. The WWE NXT August 4 2026 results delivered where they needed to, even if the road getting there was not always clean.
